Hi, My baby is 3 Month old and exclusively breastfed. Past 2 months am suffering from skin allergy. I consulted with physician and am told to take dazit-m tablet (desloratadine and montelukast). Is it safe to take during Breastfeeding? Will it pass through breast milk ? Will it cause any short term Or long term side effects for the baby?

Where am I?

Hi priya

Desloratadine, a major active metabolite of loratadine, is a long-acting tricyclic antihistamine with selective peripheral histamine H1 receptor antagonistic activity. Desloratadine is secreted in breast milk.

I would recommend to consult your Doctor to clarify the risk and benefits as these drugs are considered in 'probably safe in usual doses'.

Thanks.
