Asked a question 10 months ago

Hi, we have started giving solids to my son after completing 6 months. I started with ragi and then mashed dal. He is refusing to take water, neither by sipper nor by spoon. Kindly suggest how do I encourage my child to take water ?

Where am I?

Hi Ramya

Till 9 months very small amount of water nearly 70-80ml per day is what a baby requires as baby is supposed to have minimal 3 servings of milk which has 70%water content and 2-3 servings of semisolids per day .Sippy cups can be offered for consuming water sipwise while they are chewing the food .It is definitely not worrisome .No forceful feeding  should be done at this stage.
